Unit 11 – Bloody Agency investigates the role of the architect as an active agent in the free market with a focus on housing. Thomas Chapman of Local Studio is Unit 11 – Bloody Agency Team Leader.

The 2019 project sees Cape Town as a geography of absurdity in general, and the housing market as a manifestation of that absurdity in particular.

The 14 participating students, along with Chapman, Khensani De Klerk and Njabulo Phekani, explore a number of areas and sites through the lens of four sub-themes: agency, absurdity, proximity, and co-habitation.
